Key ideas and facts:

1. Elijaj Wood plays very poorly as Frodo Baggins. He seems lost and in a state of perpetual shock.
2. This movie only has strong male characters: no room for women except for Cate Blanchett as Galadriel and Liv Tyler as Arwen. The other women are insignificant. Bradshaw refers to the movie as ''a men-only affair''.
3. New Zealand itself is the star of the film.

Summary:

A young and timid hobbit, Frodo Baggins, inherits a magic ring. Far from being a simple object, the ring is an instrument of absolute power that would allow Darklord Sauron to reign over Middle Earth thus reducing its people to slavery. In this first movie of the trilogy, a group is created to form the Fellowship of the Ring whose purpose is to lead Frodo to destroy the ring by throwing it in the hot flames of Mount Doom.
